Modern Guru and the Artificial Path to Happiness is an immersive digital art experience that uses the intersection of art and technology to explore modern paths to happiness through unique interactions with AI-driven characters along a mystical journey of discovery.
Visitors make their way, pilgrim-style through a glowing landscape of oversized, whimsical mountains that offer activities to stimulate reflection. Participants are asked to commit to the path – a tight and winding trail with distinct points of interaction along the journey.
Visitors gradually progress through this journey of ritual, realisation and revelation to the final art piece – Modern Guru. Modern Guru is a translucent ovoid, floating above a ceremonial ring of LEDs. From his mouth flows messages from philosophers and thinkers who have written about the purpose of life. A new message is produced each time someone kneels before Modern Guru. And in a statement about the true nature of lived experiences, a special message is delivered when visitors take a photo of Modern Guru – given only to those who seek to photograph rather than ‘live’ the moment.
Modern Guru and the Artificial Path to Happiness is a new media, contemporary art exhibition that poses questions like: Should we take guidance from nature in the pursuit of happiness? Should we look to the great minds throughout history for purpose and meaning if we are to reach the best possible outcomes for the future? And what is the place of digital culture in our collective happiness? Finally, given that the entire journey is seen through the prism of art – one of the great questions of the future in the context of the present moment is posed: is art the new religion?
This exhibition is scalable and can be custom designed to fit your space. To this end, it can be remade according to everything from a 4metre-15metre ceiling height and span from 200 metres to a 2000 metre footprint. The composition of the work and the character selection will be chosen to suit layout, exhibition objectives and architecture. Timing, footprint and cost to be negotiated with ENESS. Note: restrictions may apply to eleventh-hour exhibition hire.
